Lanceleaf Coreopsis (Coreopsis lanceolata) is a sun-loving, quintessential prairie wildflower known for its cheerful, bright yellow blooms and rugged reliability. As one of the earliest coreopsis species to flower, its serrated, daisy-like blossoms appear in late spring and continue through early summer, dancing atop slender, swaying stems. Its common name refers to its attractive, lance-shaped green foliage that forms a low, tidy mound at the base. Highly drought-tolerant and unfussy about soil quality, this "Tickseed" variety is a staple for meadows, rock gardens, and pollinator borders, where it serves as a prolific nectar source for bees and butterflies while requiring almost no maintenance once established.
