Liatris ligulistylis - Meadow Blazing Star– MN Native

Monarch Butterfly's favorite plant! This nectar-rich plant gets covered with migrating Monarchs in the late summer and fall. It is not uncommon to count 5+ monarchs on single plant at one time.

Very similar to Liatris Aspera. What's the difference? Liatris aspera, has flower heads that are stalk-less, and a preference for drier conditions. Liatris ligulistylis has stalked flower heads, floral bracts that are flattened and a preference for moister sites.

Bursts of purple flowers cover stalks that can reach 4-5 ft tall. A low maintenance, hearty plant.
